Bro. Julius and Donna Greene
 

     Julius S. Greene is a native of Winston-Salem, NC. He graduated from Winston-Salem, Forsyth County Schools and attended Forsyth Technical Community College, Winston Salem State University (Business Administration), Linville Forest School of Preaching, and took correspondence courses through Southwestern Christian College. He was also a faithful employee for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for 32 years until his retirement in _____. 

 

     Julius began preaching in 1982 at the Woodmere Church of Christ where he helped grow the congregation from 7 to 42 members. This was an excellent opportunity for him to develop his ministerial growth and training. However, in 1984, Julius matriculated to Carver Road Church of Christ where he served as the assistant minister under Bro. Cloys Cecil for 12 years. Finally, God saw fit for Julius to transition once again to the South English Church of Christ where he worked as the assistant minister per the request of its head minister, Bro. Jerry Taylor. After five years of serving in the capacity of assistant, Julius was asked to become the full-time minister of South English Street after Bro. Taylor relocated. He has served as the full-time minister for 8 years.Julius has been happily married to his lovely wife, Donna for 37 years. Through this union, Julius and Donna were blessed with two lovely children; a son, Julius A. Greene and daughter, Nikki (Nicholas) Glenn. He also has a grandson, Evan Chase.

Bro. Nicholas and Nikki Glenn
 
    

     Nicholas A. Glenn is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  He was baptized into Christ in January 1987 at the age of 8 at the Redland Church of Christ in Advance, North Carolina.  He later began preaching the gospel at age 14. In November of 2002, he became an Assistant Minister at the South English Street (Now Sharpe Road) Church of Christ in Greensboro, North Carolina and presently serves in that capacity. He is the son-in-law of Bro. Julius S. Greene, current minister of the Sharpe Road Church of Christ, and the son of Larry A. Glenn, current minister of the Redland Church of Christ.  He has been privileged to preach at several congregations throughout the brotherhood and has conducted various workshops, fellowship, lectureships and youth meetings. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, as well as a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies and a concentration in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University.  Nicholas is currently working towards his Doctorate in Ministry with a concentration in Expository Preaching from Tennessee Temple University. He has been married to the former Nikki Greene of Winston-Salem, North Carolina since July of 2003.

  

 
Bro. Thomas and Debra Harrelson
 

     Brother Thomas J. Harrelson was born to Stephen and Mary B. Harrelson in Newport News, Virginia. They later relocated to Yanceyville, North Carolina.

He was educated and graduate of Caswell County Training School and Caswell County High School.  He later met the love of his live, Debra. The married and moved to Greensboro, North Carolina. He and his wife reside in McCleansville, North Carolina and have two children, Thomas J. Harrelson II and Tara J. Harrelson. They have one granddaughter, Alisha Harrelson.  In 1985 he was baptized into Christ at the South English Street Church of Christ. That same year he gave his first sermon under the leadership of Brother Paul Sanders.  In 2002 he was appointed Assistant Minister of the South English Street Church of Christ.  Brother Harrelson has been instrumental in working with the Education Ministry, Distress Ministry, Prison Ministry and Church Security.  Presently he is working with a new congregation, the Yanceyville Church of Christ in Yanceyville, North Carolina.  He is currently attending Tennessee Bible College working toward his Bachelor’s degree in Theology. His favorite scripture is “Without Christ you can do nothing” (Matthew 15:5).

Bro. Maurice and Kathy Dent
 
     L. Maurice Dent Sr. was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 26, 1959.  His parents are Benny Dent and Oretha Whitehead.  Because his father was in the military during the early part of his life, L. Maurice Dent Sr. lived in different parts of the United State and lived part of his childhood overseas in Germany.  At age seven his parent settled in Albany, Georgia where he spent the remainder of his childhood and early adult life. In 1972, L. Maurice Dent Sr. was baptized into the Lord’s Church at the River Road Church of Christ in Albany, GA.   As a youth in the church he was active in the youth group and attended the Southwestern Youth Conference.  After graduating from Albany State College in 1982, he remained actively involved with the youth group and became a part of the church’s bus ministry.  Also, he took on the responsibility of coaching the youth group sports activities and driving the church singing group to different church activities.  Kathy Scott Dent, his future wife, was a part of the singing group and was one of L. Maurice Dent Sr. star softball and volleyball players on the church team.  L Maurice Dent Sr. and his wife Kathy Scott Dent fell in love and they where married on June 23, 1984.  In 1985, they had their first child L. Maurice Dent Jr., and in 1987, they had their second child Byran S. Dent.  
 
     The River Road Church of Christ not having elders at the time assigned men to lead in four different areas.  L. Maurice Dent Sr. was selected to lead in the area of benevolence and continued to work in the benevolence ministry until moving to Greensboro, North Carolina in 1989.  After moving to Greensboro, L. Maurice Dent Sr. and his family placed their membership with the South English St. Church of Christ. In 1992, they had their third and last child Charles K. Dent.At South English St. Church of Christ, L. Maurice Dent Sr. has been a part of several different ministries.  For several years he was the chairman of the finance ministry, and he served as a member of the church’s leadership committee. He loves to teach God’s word and believes teaching is the area that God’s is leading him to serve. In 2005, he was ordained as one the church elders at South English St. Church of Christ.  He believes it is an honor to serve his church family and to be a servant to God.

 

 
 Bro. Nathaniel and Thelma Stevenson
 
     Nathaniel Stevenson serves as one of the elders at The South English Street Church of Christ in Greensboro, NC.  He has been married to his wife, Thelma for 51 years.  Through their union, the Lord blessed them with 2 wonderful sons, one deceased.  He retired from the United States Postal Service after 31 years of service as a mail mechanical inspector.  He comes from a family of elders, preachers and church workers.  Brother Stevenson has been a member at South English Street for over fifty years.  He has worked diligently in the area of education, transportation, finance and building maintenance.  He loves exhorting, reading and serving in God’s kingdom.
 
Bro. Junius "JC" and Daisy Williams
 
     Junius Crawford “J.C.” Williams III was born in Tuskegee Institute, Alabama on July 11, 1937 to Junius and Macy Williams Jr. He attended Florida A & M University on a basketball scholarship and graduated in 1959.  He then married his high school sweetheart Daisy Kennedy. He and Daisy decided to make Milton, Florida their home where they reared their three children, Juanda, Keith and Evelyn.  J.C. obeyed the gospel at the Susan Street Church of Christ in Milton, Fl and served as adult bible school teacher and treasurer. For 34 years he was employed by the Santa Rosa County School System, enjoying a successful and rewarding career as a coach, teacher, elementary principal and community leader. In addition to many honors, accolades, and awards, in 1990 J.C. was chosen Florida's First Distinguished Black Educator. Today, J.C. and Daisy reside in Greensboro, NC and are members of the South English Street Church of Christ.  In addition to serving as an elder, he enjoys teaching bible study and keeping in touch with his nine grandchildren.

Bro. Robert and Maria Alston
 
     Brother Robert Alston was born and raised in Greensboro, NC.  He is the fourth of seven siblings.  Robert was introduced to the church at an early age by his high school sweetheart Sister Marie Butler. The two later married in March of 1966 and have been married for forty-two years.  Sister Marie Alston is one of the granddaughters of the late Brother P.K. Alexander, who was the first ever minister to what became the South English Street Church of Christ.  To their union they had three daughters, Angelia, Robin and Tonya.  Robert and Marie later adopted a son, Jeremy in 1991. 
Robert loves the Lord and is honored to serve the South English Street Church of Christ in the capacity of deacon. 
 
Bro. Earl and Emma Gibson
 
     Earl Alphonso Garvin was born in Pineland, S.C. on July 31, 1942 to Willard and Effie Garvin.
He attended secondary school in Jasper County, S.C. and graduated with second honors in his graduating class while in high school. Upon graduating from high school, Earl matriculated to S.C. State College and majored in Mechanical Engineering. After receiving his B.S. degree, Earl was inducted into the U.S. Army as an Officer. Earl served 3 years on active duty and had achieved the rank of Captain prior to his honorable discharge from service. 
Upon departure from the Army, Earl worked in industry in supervision, engineering and management.  He received several honors and awards while in the industrial field. Perhaps most notable of these was the recognition of Black Achiever in industry at the Waldorf Astoria in New York in1974.
While working and living in St. Louis, Earl met and married the love of his life---Emma J. Simmons. Through this nuptial they reared 4 children: Candace, Martin, Matthew and Charity.  Earl obeyed the gospel in Morris Town, N.J. in 1976 and has been a warrior for Christ every since. Earl and Emma are residents of Eden, N.C. and are members of the South English Street Church of Christ in Greensboro, N.C. Earl serves as a Deacon and enjoys various assignments in this capacity while serving God to the highest esteem. 
 
Bro. Eugene and Babara Gibson
 
     Eugene Gibson was born Dec. 23, 1938 at the Harlem Hospital, NYC. to Margaret & John Gibson Sr. He attended Morristown High School and finished graduation in the USMC, serving 4 years. He returned home from North Africa to Camp Lejune, NC. After leaving the military he attended Morris County Trade School receiving a diploma and graduating from the Sunset Bible School in Lubbock, Texas in 1990. 
 

     He resided in Morristown, NJ; and was baptized into Christ at the Morristown Church of Christ in 1986. While residing in Morristown, he joyfully married his sweetheart, Barbara King. During their marriage they had 3 children; Jefferey, Rita Lynn and Eugene Gibson Jr. They are now all adults living in New Jersey and Florida and have been baptized into Christ. Eugene takes great enjoyment in doing what he can for the Lord and the Church in lifting up Christ and giving God the glory & praise. Eugene and Barbara moved to Greensboro and moved their membership to the South English Street Congregation. He is now serving as a Deacon and greatly enjoys whatever needs to be accomplished while serving God with high esteem!

 

 


  

Bro. Anthony and Evelyn Tinsley

     Meet Anthony Tinsley and his wife Evelyn.  They are natives of sunny Florida, where they were raised in the church and obeyed the Gospel in their perspective congregations as youth. Anthony and Evelyn are the proud parents of Kennedy, April, Natasha, and Jewel.  The Tinsley family placed membership at the South English Street congregation in August of 1993.  Over the years, Anthony and Evelyn have served the congregation as bible school teachers, youth ministers and ministry leaders.  Anthony is a graduate of Tuskegee University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He currently serves as Deacon over the Education

 

Bro. Billy and Tracy Johnson

     Billy was born in Siler City, NC and at the age of five, his family moved to Greensboro. He was added to the body of Christ on November 15, 1987 at South English St Church of Christ. He later met and fell in love with his lovely wife Tracy, also a member of South English St Church of Christ. They united in marriage on June 14, 1991 and from that union they have 2 lovely daughters, Jasmyn and Whitney. He has been involved in teaching new converts, assisting the finance committee, evangelism/door-knocking and many other ministries. Billy has a background in printing; after graduating from Northeast High School in 1980, he attended Guilford Technical Community College, completed a four-year apprenticeship program at Meredith/Burda Printing Co. and finished a course of study at Philip Crosby Quality College in the Printing Improvement Process.   In 2004, Billy passed his National Exam and received his massage license for the North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy. In his spare time Billy enjoys fishing, golfing and studying the bible.
